The Winter Of 2009
| The winter of 2009 was the coldest winter we have experienced at LOG HOUSE HOLIDAYS since 1980.
Here are a selection of photograghs which capture the magical scenes which we had for nearly a month. Our Finnish Log Houses, designed and built for even harsher conditions proved easily capable of staying wonderfully warm and cosy,heated by our newly installed ground sourced heat pumps, extracting heat from the lake and supplying heat for all the underfloor heating, hot water and hot tubs. The hot tubs proved so popular during this period that we have decided to install further hot tubs at MONTY'S RETREAT, ISLAND LODGE and LAKE SPRINGS HOUSE during the course of this year.

From water meadow to gravel extraction site to a Getaway Paradise in two decades of careful development and dedication, the Log House Holidays story is as unique as the place. Right from the outset, Anthony Edmondson's dream for his log houses was to achieve a balance between commercial and conservation interests which has given the venue its special feeling. Our log houses are located in the Cotswold Water Park, an extensive system of over 130 lakes formed through over 30 years of mineral extraction from the Upper Thames Floodplain. Years of landscaping and planting, combined with Anthony's unique vision has made the estate a very special place, full of purpose built facilities, networks of islands, beaches and plantations of trees. The lake supports a significant part of the Cotswold Water Park's nationally important bird population, including Grebe, Swan, unusual Duck, Nightingale, Kingfisher and Cormorant. On rare occasions Bittern and Osprey have also been spotted. Coarse fishing is also very popular here with excellent catches of Pike, Perch, Tench, Roach and Rudd achieved. (Carp fishing is not permitted).
